Yoga, Breathwork and Ayurveda for holistic health

As an instructor, you hold space. But who holds space for the instructor? Aurore, a beautiful woman I met in Bali, took me on a breath work journey at the beginning of this week. I came with the intention to let go of two things: my emotional eating patterns and my procrastination. What I forgot was to be present, and the session reminded my that there is no problem, but a lack a gratitude. Find a little exercise for more gratitude at the end of this post!

What are you grateful for?

In my head, emotional eating and procrastination were massive obstacles constantly holding me back. Breathing for one hour brought me to realize that it’s not the issue sticking around, it’s me sticking to the issue. I’ve fallen into the trap of always wanting more. Better body, more productivity. What I forgot was to appreciate what’s there right now. Because there is a hell of a lot to appreciate, and it just takes one breath that gets me out of my head and into the present moment.

Daily meditation and yoga, brilliant meals, 4 productive hours a day, beach walks, surf sessions, gorgeous like-minded women around me, lush nature, a supportive family, scooter rides along the coast, financial security, a beautiful place to stay, so much me time, a healthy, growing relationship, pain-free body, absolute freedom, a loving global network, sand, sun, ocean.

That’s what I call emotional eating and procrastination are after all just addictions of mine to constantly complain about something, trying to be better, bigger, more than I was before. Fantastic – that attitude probably brought me to where I’m at today, but it also takes away time to rest without guilt, time to enjoy what I‘ve worked for and simply … be. I struggle to be happy, even if the circumstances are perfect

And they are perfect.

Always wanting more is a mindset of being stuck in the future, focused on what you don’t have instead of what you have. Creation happens by feeling, by embodying what you want, and embodiment happens nowhere else but in the present moment. Once again, I’ve forgotten to be grateful.

Gratitude grounds you into presence, and in the present you create.

To be present is to take a depp breath.
To be present is to take a deep breath.

How to be present

Little exercise: Take a moment to sit, take a deep breath. Think of three things that make you really, really happy that you have in your life right now. What are you grateful for? Give me three things you’re grateful for and spend a few seconds letting them run through your body. Remember: You create your reality. If you wear the pair of glasses that focuses on what makes you happy, you create happiness. Feel, and enjoy your happy hormones ☺️✨ share in the comments if you feel the call!
